Great British Bake Off 2017 BACKLASH: Flo Atkins controversially AXED ‘My son is crying!’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The 71-year-old won over the hearts of the nation with her moves to All About That Bass and stunning Watermelon fruit cake, but alas, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith felt otherwise.

Viewers were devastated by the result and flocked to Twitter to unite in their despair.

“My nine year son is crying because he’s going to miss Flo,” sobbed one viewer, as another bawled: I’m absolutely heartbroken about Flo going off GBBO, like my actual fave this is a s**t week.”

‘A third hissed: “F**king fuming Flo left, loved watching her she’s the cutest lil Scouse baker going stay sassy bird.”

“Absolute joke for flo to be kicked out #GBBO,” snapped one more, which was followed by: “EXCUSE ME HOW DARE THEY GET RID OF FLO?”

Following her glorious Great British Bake Off stint, Flo revealed her favourite moment from her three week stay on the Channel 4 series.

“The best moment for me has to be when Paul [Hollywood] cut into my watermelon cake,” she enthused. “I wanted to see inside it as much as the judges did, to see if it had baked through properly, and thank goodness it had.

“I did practice it twice at home so I must admit I wasn’t fazed by making it in the tent.

“I am comfortable making cakes and gateaux I could make them all day long, but throw me a challenge of a biscuit and a bread sculpture and I start going to pieces.”

Contestant Steven Carter-Bailey has already emerged as firm favourite to be crowned Channel 4’s first Bake Off champion, with bookmakers awarding the 34-year-old odds of 2/1.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “It’s no surprise Steven is the early favourite at 2/1 to be crowned winner of this series of Great British Bake Off.

“Steven has wowed the show’s judges in the first two weeks, and with two Baker of the Week accolades already to his name, we make him 5/2 to complete the hat-trick in tonight’s show.”

Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
