Atlanta weather: Snow threat looms

New models indicate rain could switch to a wintry mix of rain and snow about 3 a.m. Friday in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“Looks like it will be impacting our morning commute,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

According to the latest forecast, there is a 70 percent chance of precipitation Friday, and the wintry mix could continue through Saturday.

It is expected to melt on contact, according to meteorologist Karen Minton. The exceptions are grassy areas and elevated surfaces.

“Any moisture left on the roads could freeze Saturday morning with temperatures dropping into the mid- and upper 20s,” she said.
