SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – As train service has become the premier ground option for transportation between Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains traveling through the area are experiencing very high passenger loads.
To help remedy the situation, Pacific Surfliner is adding additional cars to select trains operating through the weekend for residents traveling between Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
A news release from the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) said the following:
The Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency (Agency) has worked with Amtrak and in consultation with the Union Pacific Railroad and Metrolink to review options for providing additional service to Ventura and Santa Barbara.
Due to the significant ongoing cleanup efforts on both the rail corridor and the highway, it is not possible to operate additional trains at this time.
